Our Story

In early 2005, a core team were commissioned by Rio Vista Community Church, a thriving, long- established Presbyterian church (PCA) in downtown Fort Lauderdale, to start another PCA congregation less than a mile away on the other side of downtown. This new church became CityChurch Fort Lauderdale.

In 2011, CityChurch Fort Lauderdale commissioned a team of people to start CityChurch Pompano Beach, a congregation in northern Broward County. Though a different denomination (Southern Baptist) and serving a different community in a different city, the new church would share the CityChurch vision, values, and mission.

In late 2015, Rio Vista re-engaged with the CityChurch congregations to help form the CityChurch Project in order to better reach the growing unchurched and de-churched population of South Florida.

Though the CityChurch Project's congregations are multi-denominational and demographically different, they share a common philosophy for ministry.
